What is it? First Impression Friday is a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only a chapter or two in, maybe a little farther. Based on this sampling of your current read, give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end. Did you think you’d love and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you exactly right? I think what will really make this meme a lot of fun, is linking back to it from your review to say, “Look at how wrong I was!” OR “See? I knew it all along!”
So on my very first FIF, the book I’m talking about is In Pieces by Sally Field. This is her memoir that was released a year ago in September of 2018. I added her book to my TBR (to be read) list when I came across it at a used book sale this past spring.
I typically enjoy celebrity memoirs. I don’t know too much about Sally Field, other than I’ve seen a few movies that she has stared in (Mrs. Doubtfire being the stand out favourite, obviously!). I am curious to learn more about her and here her story.
I started listening to this audiobook from my library on the Libby app earlier this week. I am not very far in, but it’s giving me that first impression of not enjoying it. I don’t know if it is her voice, or the realization that perhaps she isn’t a celebrity that I am super interested in? I’m not sure. So I’m tempted to set it aside.
Have you read it and loved it? Can I be convinced to give it more of a chance? Speak up and let me know!
Feel free to join in on this meme if it interests you. If you do, link it back to me so I can read it, too!
